English Extension 2 Inquiry Question

Hi all!

Was hoping to get some advice on how to formulate an inquiry question for English Extension 2 as I'm currently studying online and have little teacher input.

I have already begun my composition process and have read various books and essays regarding the writing of fiction. Should the inquiry question relate to the particular genre I plan on honing into as my main source of genric inspiration? Should it relate to areas of fictional writing I deem most important to investigate? Should it relate to areas of fictional writing that require most personal improvement? All of it? I'm at a complete loss.

The important thing is to keep within the word count given because that shows the discipline in putting together the information the markers are looking for . No problem in mimicking other authors' styles as long as you are creative in your methods and presentation

You will be expected to include the following in your presentation/responses:
• a thorough explanation of the purpose, audience, context and form of your Major Work
• acknowledgement of the sources you have used in developing the proposal and inquiry question
• an outline of your plan to complete the Major Work project including a timeline
• references to your journal to assist in explaining choices made and research completed

2- Criteria for marking the English Extension 2 Major Work and Reflection Statement

The Major Work and the Reflection Statement will be awarded separate marks, out of 40 and 10 respectively.
Major Work marking criteria

Textual integrity
Quality of insights and concepts, developed through independent investigation, and the communication of developed ideas
Manipulation of features that shape meaning and response, and quality of engagement
Reflection Statement marking criteria
Explanation of the intended purpose and audience of the Major Work
Explanation of the relationship of the extensive independent investigation to the Major Work
Explanation of the relationship of the Major Work to the knowledge, understanding and skills developed in the English Advanced and Extension courses
Evaluation of the relationships of concept, structure, technical and language features and conventions

Keep in mind that “quality” is a neutral term, and you may describe changes that impacted your MW negatively as well as positively. While it’s understandable that you’d prefer to focus on the good things, you won’t have reached this stage without some hiccups along the way. And that’s fine! That’s normal. It’s also normal to honestly reflect on what went wrong or didn’t go as expected, and how you (hopefully) overcame these obstacles to ultimately improve the quality of your MW
