I have been stuck on this for ages..
so when the biotechnology of CRISPR is used to cut the double-stranded DNA of the cell and a new gene is inserted, where does this new gene come from? Does it come from another organism or is it synthesised by humans?
I am so confused, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much
Hey there! CRISPR is used for gene editing and ultimately, once scientists have removed the defective gene, they can edit it as they wish and replace the defective gene with whichever gene required. CRISPR and its knowledge is more so the process, I suggest understanding more about how it works and why it's used over the detail of where the new gene they insert comes from. Hope this helps
